I have this 14yo 2003 Diamond from ORS in my glass together with the 13yo ORS and the new 2003 Diamond from Elizabeth Yard. The rums have a very similar profile, the EY has the most intense attack. The 14yo from ORS has the weakest nose so far, the profile that links the 13yo to the EY is barely there. It's a rather faceless profile, some caramel, then some latte. With a little patience I find some berry fruit and dried mango. I would probably take it for a thin, Spanish TDL. In the mouth, the difference to the other two is even more pronounced, there are fresh herbs here that have not yet been found. Although it has the highest alcohol content, the almost 65% is barely noticeable. The finish is the shortest and flattest of this session. I don't think it's really bad, but it doesn't convince me. Perhaps the sample is too heavily oxidized, the other tasting notes read very much like my perception of the EY, but the rum in my glass is a far cry from that. Tonight's order is clear: The Elisabeth Yard, is no Port Mourant but a very good representative from the batch. The 13yo from ORS is the second best of this session, the 14 yo unfortunately can't keep up.
