SMWS Hampden R7.3 Shiver me esters!

 Nice and oily in the glass. Very pleasant nose with lots of fruit ... Ripe mango, banana, pineapple and papaya. Delicious fruit ester and light woody notes. Alcohol not very present. Slightly sweet and nicely fruity on the palate, but here paired with more woodiness and bitter tones. I can also taste a little vanilla 🫨. Acidity more present on the nose than on the palate but never disturbing. The finish is relatively monotonous with bitter chocolate and a dry mouthfeel. Alcohol relatively well integrated for me.

 #4533 20.12.2023 Swapped myself to some nice SMWS samples and I'm definitely going to get my hands on some more. This is a pretty good Hampden and the price at release was pretty good. Fruity and medium ester level rum with a light smoky note. The palate is warm and fresh with a nice minty touch in the back. The finish is long, lightly dry and warm with nice fruits. The empty glass has some caramel and faint polish/glue.

 Schöne Abfüllung, aber irgendwie nicht ganz so funky wie ich ihn erwartet habe. Geschmacklich kann man nicht wirklich viel daran aussetzen, aber denoch finde ich ihn ein wenig dünn. Für mich eher die Kategorie easy Sipper für zwischendurch.

 The last one for today and the clear winner. Fruity on the nose (pineapple) and the ester naturally comes to the fore. Also fruity on the palate (pineapple and citrus fruits). You can hardly taste the alcohol. Top rum 👍

 Eine Blindverkostung. Butter, Ananas, ein Hauch von Holz, sehr gut integrierter Alkohol. Im Mund ist er ziemlich cremig, fruchtig und ein wenig holzig. Ich denke eher an einen Hampden als an Continental, da alle Marker vorhanden sind. Ein guter Rum, ich bin überrascht von dem Alterskonto, ich dachte, er wäre jünger.

 Alkohol ist sehr gut integriert. Leicht cremig am Gaumen mit tollen tropischen Fruchtnoten. Insgesamt sind Süße und Säure gut ausbalanciert. Holzige und rauchige Noten bleiben trotz des Alters eher im Hintergrund. Sicher nicht der komplexeste Hampden, aber trotzdem eine sehr schöne Abfüllung im unteren Ester-Bereich.

 Die Nase lässt sofort an verkohlte Ananas und rauchigen Speck denken, der an Frazzles erinnert. Viel salziges Schweinefleisch, Chili-Öl, Soja-Glasur, scharf geräuchertes Wildfleisch, frisch gehackter Ingwer und Tintenfischtinte, im Mund kraftvoll, reichhaltig und druckvoll. Viel geräucherter Vanilleextrakt, gesüßtes Antiseptikum, rauchige Würze, Speckmarmelade mit Chili, zuckriger schwarzer Kaffee, Kürbiskernöl, natürlicher Teerextrakt und altes Leinen in einem Staudenlager. Mit Wasser gab es viel gelben amerikanischen Senf, würzige Peperoni, kurzgebratene Calamari, aschegerollten Ziegenkäse, geräucherte Minze und teerige Fischernetze.
