Sassafras

Foursquare hat es wieder geschafft. Ein schöner intensiver und komplexer Rum für alle, die guten Rum mögen. Wow! Die Nase ist wunderbar, wenn er 15-20 Minuten ruht. Dann wird man fast von einem schönen Bouquet von Früchten und Gewürzen überwältigt. Im Hintergrund finde ich Kokosnuss und etwas verkohltes Holz. Der Gaumen enttäuscht angesichts der wunderbaren Nase nicht. Natürlich süß, leicht trocken. Intensiv, ausgewogen und komplex, alles in einem..... Dann kommen Früchte und Gewürze, gefolgt von Karamell und verkohltem Holz. Der Abgang ist sehr lang, mit Pflaume und Vanille, die mit verkohltem Holz enden. Eine erneute Verkostung heute bestätigt, dass er ein Gewinner ist.

Lack und tropische Früchte sind gleichberechtigt, was der Nase den Eindruck von Ausgewogenheit verleiht. Im Mund zeigt sich eine große Eleganz mit geschmolzenen Aromen. Ein vibrierender und komplexer Mund mit edlen Bitterstoffen, die dem Rum seinen Charakter verleihen. Der Abgang ist lang und sofort möchte man sich ein weiteres Glas einschenken. Ein sehr schöner Foursquare, lebhaft, elegant und tiefgründig.

Yes it is good! No it does not live up to the hype. He is more balanced in taste and finish by the 11 years Cognac fasst storage. More but also not. I'd rather buy two bottles of the ESC series. They make just as much fun.

It is very good. We feel a bit the watts, the alcohol could be better integrated. Very greedy, and complex. We find the usual markers of this distillery.

Extremely pleasing wide cognac FS. I really like it and it certainly has the greatest all-round potential. Also suitable for beginners.

Ein vierfaches Meisterwerk!

Foursquare, a distillery I've found to be just ok so far and for good reason compared to other distilleries. I can't say the same for this one. DDL sends its regards beautifully! Here it comes dangerously close to my favorite distillery already. Dried fruit, orange peel, glue, polish, sweet notes like caramel and nicely integrated wood. All this I also often find again in DDL, here, however, long not so pronounced and complex. The palate is incredibly drinkable, sweet, intense, with pleasant tannins and a slight bitterness. Really beautiful rum!

Ein guter Foursquare, wie man ihn liebt. Der Abgang ist von einer herrlichen Gourmandise. Der Abgang ist sehr angenehm, aber das Holz und die Gewürze sorgen dafür, dass er nicht zu ekelhaft wird. Der Alkohol hingegen könnte besser integriert werden.

It is very round and full-bodied. Resting brings some dirty notes, smokiness, bacon, baking spices and ripe mango. 8,9:The finish is long, dry and also tasty with charred wood notes, hazelnut is quite strong, chocolate, some leather, vanilla joins and prunes, other notes remain as on the palate..

Ich hatte die Gelegenheit, eine sehr kleine Probe davon zu probieren, daher basiert meine Bewertung auf einem ersten, rudimentären Eindruck und einem schnellen Vergleich mit ähnlichen Profilen aus dem Gedächtnis. Bei der Bewertung habe ich mich in angemessener Weise zurückgehalten, um die Erfahrung nicht zu beschönigen, zu übertreiben oder zu untertreiben. Elegantes Profil, dem es hervorragend gelungen ist, den klassischen Reichtum von Foursquare mit Cognac-Einflüssen zu überlagern und etwas Königliches zu schaffen. Eröffnet mit getrockneten Früchten und Kokosnussflocken, dann herb-holzig mit einer leichten Möbellack-Note. Vollmundig, würzig und schließlich intensiv süß mit Crème brûlée, Crème fraîche, Vanillapod und Bresilienne. Im Abgang Holzkohle und mit Zimt versetzte Schokolade, gefolgt von einem Anflug von Cognac-Noten.

But also some vanilla, coconut, cherry and orange. Woody and nutty with a hint of marzipan. In the finish woody sweet, some cherry.He can what! The 11 years in the cognac barrel make the really strong!

The best Foursquare I've ever had as a Foursquare skeptic. Very pleasing, especially on the palate, without this for me obtrusive typical Foursquare characteristics too much to emphasize. For me, therefore, also winner in direct comparison with the Principia often rated here on a par.Was very pleased to have made the acquaintance of this great rum. 👍

My first high-priced rum from back in the day.... Typical Foursquare profile with developed roasted aromas, super integrated alcohol and delicious wood flavor. After many more Foursquares, it is still at the upper limit.

tasted together with the Plenipotenziario. The Sassafras is aged 11 years cognac / 3 years bourbon barrel, the Plenipotenziario has spent its 12 years completely in bourbon barrel. On the nose I find the two very similar: vanilla, oak, dried fruit, likewise on the palate: burnt sugar, spice, tobacco, with a smoky finish. Both are really good, the Sassafras overall perhaps a little rounder, but for that there is the Plenipotenziario also still significantly cheaper to have.

A very good representative from Barbados with typical notes. Overall very harmonious and round, yet also with a little more depth than the otherwise rather one-dimensional Barbados rum. In the nose slightly fruity after dried apricot, some wood and a lot of vanilla with light caramel. Vanilla and caramel are also found in the taste. The fruit is only slightly noticeable, but coconut and milk chocolate are more prominent. A really excellent daily sipper, but not a miracle of complexity.
