T.D.L RA Trinidad Rum

 Hervorragender T.D.L! Sehr viel Pfirsich in der Nase. Erinnert etwas an einen Caroni-Cognac-Blend.

 sehr solider TDL, mega geile Menthol Kaugummi Bombe, aber definitiv kein Caroni 🤣 könnte für mich nur etwas mehr Bums haben aber das ist Geschmacksache... Was ich hier 1 Jahr später geil finde ist die Ähnlichkeit zu japanischen mochi balls grüner Tee mit Matcha Tee Geschmack. Sehr herb und grün nach grüner Mandarine, Reiskuchen, kalamansi und Papaya etc. Macht richtig Spaß, super komplex und süffig!

 Tasted together with the TCRL 2001: Both are very mint forward, but still different. The nose from the RA is brute: much woodier, dirtier, smokier with some wet cardboard to it, less fresh overall. Some orange peel and bergamot can be found nonetheless. The nose from the TCRL is less intense but still more multi-faceted. In the mouth, the impression continues. The mint is less fresh, then menthol and gasoline. The wood brings a soft bitterness, anise and mace. The finish is again strong menthol, then the bitterness of lemon peel and coriander stalks. Besides the mint, the similarities to the TCRL are under the first dirty layer, but then are very apparent. I like the fruitier, more herbal and softer profile from the TCRL more. Edit. In crosstasting, I tried the RA, TCRL, Nobilis, Plantation Antipodes, and the new Rasta Morris. The rums are incredibly similar - esp. the Nobilis and RM are barely distinguishable. The RA stands out because of its dilution, the Plantation is clearly marked by the cognac barrel - it puts it closer to the 2003s - and the TCRL is the freshest, with an unusual herbal note. It was somewhat reminiscent of the 2002s. The RA also has the bitter citrus notes described above, which are less prominent in the other rums. My long open sample is starting to show some oxidation by now as well. Now it is empty 🥲

 Oh! My! God! Why do you need Caroni when you can have this T.D.L! 😋😋 😋

 Reichlich Minze, erkennbare Holzanklänge, tropische Früchte sowie dunkle Gewürze. Das Profil der post-2000er TDLs mit dem mittlerweile berühmten Minz-Mentholprofil zeigt sich hier in Reinform. Ein Rum auf tollem Niveau, mittlerweile sind aber einige weitere Vertreter aus Trinidad dazugekommen, die dieses Profil in noch vollendeterer Form aufweisen.

 Toller TDL, eher auf der minzigen und mentholigen Seite, wenn man ihn mit neueren Abfüllungen vergleicht. Schöne Tee und etwas Dreck, wie Teer und Gummi. Besonders die Pfirsich Note hebt den Rum für mich auf dieses Niveau. Erreicht jedoch nicht das Level der neueren 2001 RA Abfüllung.

 Sehr angenehm 🔥.

 Eine dunkle Seite in der Nase, aber auch viel Frische und tropische Früchte, gelbe Früchte, gelber Apfel und Sternfrucht. Im Mund ein lebhafter Auftakt mit Früchten. Dann übernimmt die Kräuter-/Mentholseite die Oberhand und lässt nicht mehr los. Der Abgang ist lang, wird aber von Menthol und Kräutern dominiert. Das leere Glas verströmt Menthol und Holz mit einem Hauch von getrockneter Petersilie.

 A highly atypical T.D.L. that is more Caroni than its own distillery. The nose is extremely similar to a Caroni: the dirty, petroleum notes leave an unmistakable impression on the nostrils. This impression is reinforced by the woodiness, with its hints of smoke, tanned leather and menthol. The fruit is more discreet, but still perceptible. Very disconcerting at first taste. The palate confirms the nose's preconceptions, with a strong empyreumatic taste, drawing on tar, burnt rubber and smokiness. Leather, licorice and herbs add unexpected bitterness, while spice and menthol give way to intense flavor. Fruit is virtually absent from the palate. The finish leaves that equally confusing and impressive sensation of a rum of the defunct style: it's bitter, herbaceous, mentholated, smoky, petroliferous but with a hint of exotic fruit. Clearly a rum that stands out from the traditional house style.

 Sehr frisch in der Nase, massig Kampfer und Minze. Sehr kraftvoll!! Kiwi, tropische Früchte. Im Mund dann überraschend etwas sanfter. Kurzer Abgang. Fisherman‘s Friends lassen grüßen.

 Süffiger TDL. Minze, Menthol, etwas Caroni, etwas gelbe Früchte. Schöne Abfüllung.

 Die Nase gefällt mir richtig gut. Viel Minze und Frucht und sehr intensiv. Auch am Gaumen überwiegend Menthol (Minze), Kräuter und Frucht (Pfirsich!?). Aus der Erinnerung raus ähnlich dem 2023er GRF Release, ggf. etwas ausgewogener. Edit: Gefällt mir von Mal zu Mal besser.

 Also ein wirklicher Wahnsinns Rum. In der Nase Klebstoff, ein paar Kräuter und Menthol. Im Gaumen dann auch Menthol, irgendwie medizinisch und nach Gummi schmecken, aber echt lecker :) Danke Gunnar für das Sample, das beste bislang;-)

 Was für eine Geschmacksbombe, Minze, Menthol und schwarzer Tee treffen auf etwas richtig dreckiges, Teer, Gummi, ein geiles Ribeye mit richtig viel Fett. Der Nachgeschmack ist wie Zahnpasta was man jetzt lieben oder hassen kann. Der Rum gefällt mir deutlich besser als der „echte“ Caroni von RA.
