Elixir Distillers of London Port Mourant Black Tot Rum Demerara Aged 40 Years 1975

Barva je strašlivě tmavá, slrz lahev není ani náznakem vidět. Je to jeden z nejtmavějších nedobarvených rumů, co jsem kdy pil. Krásně voní, opravdu mne ta vůně baví a osobně mi evokuje vůni rozinek - sultánek, když se nově otevře pytlík. Krásná vůně rozinek, švestek, ovocitost. O to je pak rozdílnější na napití. Sultanky na patře přejdou v hořkou dřevitost. Upozadí se ovocnost a nastupuje dřevitost, horkost, kůže, tabák, tmavá čokoláda, spálený karamel. V chuti je cítit zatuchlina starých rumů jak jej známe z LastConsignmentu, prostě to co staré rumy dokážou. V závěru opravdu dlouhý ocas spáleného karamelu. Opravdu mi to chutná.

In der Tat eine ganz besondere Flasche. Das hohe Alter ist sehr spürbar und prägend für diesen PM. Während ich denke, dass dies sehr angenehm ist, kann ich jeden Gedanken verstehen, der behauptet, dass dieser Wein überaltert ist.

Ingenious Navy Rum you notice the long maturation. In the tasting comparison, most found the Last Consignment better, I personally liked the 40Y due to the even stronger maturation that you notice clearly in comparison better. Less fruity, but woodier, mustier than the Last Consignment. Arr!

Fantastic nose, unfortunately, the rum does not quite keep up on the palate. In the mouth, the rum - despite the very present bitterness - unfortunately seems a bit thin. Whether this is due to the proud age or the not quite so high alcohol content is difficult to judge. But I can not get rid of the impression that there was potential for more here.

Ich hatte heute eine schöne 1975er Verkostung, also musste ich auch etwas von meinem Gold mitbringen :-)Dieser Rum wurde viel zu sehr gehypt und der Preis entspricht bei weitem nicht der Qualität. Meiner Meinung nach wurde dieser Rum zu Tode gealtert.

The nose is very spicy with lots of vegetable broth and wood. On the palate, a lot of bitterness and wood, very little typical Port Mourant DNA. Unfortunately, a bit thin to it.

Es fehlt mir auch ein wenig die Gourmandise, die ich mir wünsche. Ich bevorzuge das, was der Rum im Mund hinterlässt, und nicht den Auftakt (frisches Menthol, Karamell, getrocknete Früchte).
