Duncan Taylor Enmore Single Cask Rum

 So die letzten 5 Enmores von Alex seinen coolen Split nochmal nach verkostet. Alles aus dem selben Jahrgang und recht ähnlich im Profil, wobei schon gewisse Unterschiede m.M. vorhanden sind. Als Fazit für mich, nicht schlecht, aber das Profil ist z.Zt. einfach nicht das, was mich völlig abholt.

 Enmore 1990 Blindtasting No.5: This is the winning bottling for me and clearly in 1st place out of 8: It contains all the classic MEV Enmore flavors in a well-balanced with top integrated alcohol. It is the most complex of all 8

 Cross Tastinge across 12 bottlings of 1990 Versialles destilled Enmores. Looking at the cask strength / 50%+ ABV bottlings in the line up (CG, DT, Duchess, Greenheart I & II, RdL, Sponge, TWJ), all deliver on the classic Versailles notes: Pencil, herbs/anis, some continental fruits and a wet/moldy woodiness. Quality wise I don’t see an outlier tbh, all very enjoyable. Noticeable, however, is a very intense nose on the Sponge, which adds lots of resin and „woody“ notes to the mix,probably paying tribute to its (partly) maturation in wine casks. This is clearly outstanding out of the batch. Bonus points for the older Greenheart and TWJ for highest intensity on the (continental) fruit notes for me. DT and The Duchess gravitating more towards spicy notes in the mix. Same overall verdict for the palate. All rums in the batch are of high quality and there is no dramatic outlier (good or bad), except for the Rum Sponge. While I enjoyed the nose, on the palate the bottling is overwhelmed by wine notes. As for a lot of finished/double matured releases I just don’t see the point and here don’t like it particularly. Among the other bottlings: the DT is particularly nicely balanced with a pleasant sweetness working nicely with herbal and more darker notes. Very enjoyable. My favorite on the palate is probably the younger Greenheart (at least in this sitting). Almost as balanced as the DT but with a bit more anise and herbal notes for a bit more excitement. The older Greenheart is also very nice, with a bit less sweetness yet also very nicely balanced. TWJ and The Duchess are overall a bit more in the harsher side concerning alcohol integration, yet still very good. Very strong bottlings of the vinatage overall and a pleasure to have some side by side. Cheers to Alex for curating (most of) the tasting set! 🙌

 Community Tasting Enmore 1990 VSG/MEV als Blindverkostung. Rum5 Anis, Lakritze, helles rauchiges Holz u d gelbe Früchte. Schöne Nase. Am Gaumen angenehm im Mund und ausgewogen. Gefällt mir bis jetzt am besten.  Typisches Versailles-Profil, leider im Abgang mit etwas zu deutlicher Bitterkeit von Tee, Rauch und trockenen Lakritzen.

 Community Tasting Enmore 1990. Nr. 5. Eine Nase, in der Holz und Früchte gleichberechtigt nebeneinander stehen. Aprikose und Trockenfrüchte Der Mund ist holprig mit Alkohol, Holz und Früchten in einem Durcheinander. Der Abgang ist kurz, bis auf das Holz und eine süße Seite. Bisher der schwächste der Reihe.

 17.05.2019 Nice get together at my place with nice spread of rums. Notes Light in colour. Nose light roasted wood, nutts, banana, lemon, light ginger, faint rubber. Palate Round, light wood, fruity, nutts, light ginger, rubber, cherry, light mint, light caramel, medium dry. Finish Medium long, wood, light chocolate, fruits, light mint, faint citrus, medium dry.

 Ein sehr guter Versailles! Blind Tasting Enmore 1990 by Alex: In dem Blind Tasting mein Gewinner. Rund, sehr gut ausbalanciert, Bleistift, 52-55%, schöne Komplexität. Richtig gut!

 RumX Community Tasting - Enmore 1990 (danke an Alex!) Der hier könnte ist eigentlich ganz lecker, mit schönen Kräuternoten, muss aber Punktabzüge wegen des schlecht eingebundenen Alkohols hinnehmen. Eigentlich schade

 Hatte auf was besseres gehofft, gut aber nicht Spitzenklasse. Nase überwiegend bestehend aus Schokolade, aber auch Holz ist erkennbar. Am Gaumen dann wirklich sehr malzig und leicht bitter. Danke an Dr. Django für das Sample.

 RumX Blind Tasting 8x Enmore 1990 Rum Nr. 5 Sehr gut eingebundener Alkohol und sehr komplex. Kann gut als Geheimtipp der 1990 Enmores angesehen werden. Klassisches Profil. Besten Dank an Alex fürs organisieren!

 Sweet herbal notes, much more drinkable and approachable than the Mercenary.Great bottling for the age.

 Ein guter Versailles, aber auch nicht mehr. Die Nase ist wirklich gut und lässt hoffen. Viel Schokolade und ein Hauch von Malz. Geschmacklich ist er dann sehr bitter und etwas eindimensional. In Abgang dann sehr kurz.

 No5 of the 1990 Enmore Tasting, thanks to Alex Kunath. Very light in color, and typical according to the others. The taste is quite light at first, at least until the wood and aftertaste comes around. It's like a crescendo, the rums increases in intensity until the end. Unfortunately I find it a bit one dimensional, and as I always like the taste of fruit in a rum this will not be my favorite of the bunch.

 Guyana Tasting 1990 by Alex. Alle Rum sind 30 Minuten an der Luft gewesen, gleiches Recht für alle :-) Die Nr5 ist eine Mixtur aus 1-4. Nuss und Holz an der Nase. Cremig auf der Zunge, mit leicht röstigen Aromen.
