On the nose initially quite alcoholic, but then come the typical markers of continental mature PMs such as olive, anise, mirabelle and vanilla, and this certain 'funkiness' as already noted in the Romdeluxe PM 2005. On the palate, oak, nutmeg and a quite pleasant bitter note. The alcohol could be a bit better integrated (which also leads to a slightly sharp finish). Otherwise, the TCRL hits it for me but already quite well.
Tasted as a 5cl sample. Initially very alcoholic on the nose, the rum opens up after about an hour. Then I can perceive plums, stone fruit, vanilla and a slight woody influence, as well as glue. An alcoholic taste remains a constant companion on the palate. There is also a pleasant bitterness and a rather spicy profile with a sweetness that is not too overpowering. The finish is quite short. Conclusion: not outstanding overall, alcohol is very intrusive. Solid, but nothing more.
Today's winner of the evening. Nice complex profile, with light funkiness, pleasant PM bitter tones, wood and dried fruits, towards raisin/plum. The alcohol is well integrated and can be sipped away easily.
Nose: Honey-sweet and fruity and spicy. And then immediately dried, sulphured apricot with a hint of dry leather and smoky wood. Vanilla is therefore also present. Palate: pleasantly spicy and not too bitter. Slightly sweet in the direction of dried plum. There is a slightly artificial note of burnt plastic, but really very briefly. Nutmeg, a little menthol, a little aniseed. Finish: aniseed Delicious!
