This bottle dried out yesterday and it was one i really liked. Silver seal rums are pretty good and the prices usually match the quality. Upon release the price tag was pretty good for what you got. The nose is fruity with oak, anise, leather and chocolate as well as light herbal notes. I recommend leaving the empty glass for a few hours and then whif it again. The palate is lightly bitter, complex and well balanced with smoky oak, dried fruit and spices as well as a hint of tobacco. The finish is medium to long with smoky oak, dried fruit and chocolate.
I had high hopes for this one after my first experience with a rum from Marie-Galante…but unfortunately this one did not deliver in the same way. I found this one a little promising on the nose which had oak, fruitiness, a brown or burnt sugary sweetness and more. On the palate I found it overly oaky, out of balance, the fruit nowhere to be found and some simple sweetness. Not my rum although I’m sure others would disagree.
