Reserva Ocho Rare Gold Rum

This is a good gateway rum. Easy sipper (neat) especially if you like bourbon whiskey. Bourbon association from nose to finish. Added sweetness makes it smooth. Leads you nicely onto the oak/barrel notes. Not overly sweet.

Distinct sweetness with yet spicy finish and light woody note.

Aromas of caramel, oak and hints of smoke and sweetness. Flavors of caramel, dried fruit and oak. Nothing jumps out at you but I find it to be an easy sipper that I enjoy. Makes a pretty solid old fashion.

tasted with my companion, we do not agree on the taste for her it would be necessary to add a taste of vanilla at the end of mouth. But we agree on its use: in rum arrangement.

Perfectly drinkable

Today I was talked into tasting some of the better Bacardi versions and I don't regret it because now I tried those as well.

Nothing remarkable, but nice and overall clean notes on the nose, similar happens at tasting. Mostly caramel like aromas with some woody tones. A bit short aftertaste, but hey, what to expect under 30 euros? Pleasant surprise, it’s a round and very enjoyable everyday rum.

Ich habe mich darauf gefreut, diesen Whisky zu probieren, da ich die Gelegenheit hatte, die 10 YO-Version von Bacardi zu probieren, und ich muss zugeben, dass er mit seinem älteren Bruder wirklich gut mithalten kann. Der 8 YO ist weniger süß als der 10 YO, aber süß genug und er hat ein sehr ähnliches Profil, bei dem man Orange, Nougat, Vanille, viele Gewürze und Eichenfass im Geschmack wahrnehmen kann. In der Nase ist er etwas scharf und alkoholisch, was aber nicht unangenehm ist. Sehr schöner Rum für einen sehr guten Preis. Ein absolutes Muss in der Sammlung.

Dieser Rum ist ein guter gealterter Rum von Bacardi mit einem leicht rauchigen/holzigen Geschmack, der sehr angenehm ist. Der Alkoholgeschmack ist leicht und er kann leicht pur getrunken werden. Sehr gut auch mit Saft gemischt. In Anbetracht des Preises, es ist wirklich ein gutes Geschäft.

A good beginner rum. Sweet and spicy with a fairly balanced flavor. Not the best mixer, but does well as a session sipper and can be enjoyed equally well neat or on ice.

It’s a nice rum for the price a.k.a. Better than Barcardi gold by a lot and taster finish.

Nicht viel anders als der 4-Jährige, den ich kurz zuvor probiert habe. Vielleicht nicht ganz so synthetisch und mit Zusatzstoffen aufgepeppt. Wenn das der Fall ist, ist es immer noch ein großer Unterschied. Aber eine nicht unbedingt angenehme Schärfe und nicht viel mehr Interesse, sowohl in der Nase als auch im Mund.
