Shinanoya Caroni 25th Anniversary
The "25th Anniversary" was produced in Trinidad at the Caroni distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler Shinanoya. It was distilled in 1998 from Molasses and then aged for 22 years. The rum has an ABV of 62,6%. This is a limited release and there are only 236 bottles. 1 community member rated this rum with an average of 9.2/10. Tasted at the incredible Rum Bar Room in Tokyo (September 2024). Decided to end the night with a flight of 3 Caroni rums. On the nose, this one presented like a classic Caroni at first - with petrol and very little sweetness. Given a short time to breathe, it started to show its elegance and complexity - caramel sweetness, a freshness, petrol and chocolate. On the palate, there is almost a candied sweetness, rich fruit, hints of leather and smoke to go along with some classic notes. Very suave, complex and delicate for a Caroni. Very enjoyable rum and one of the standouts of the incredible night.
