Whiskybroker Worthy Park Cree (Oak Aged Caribbean Rum) WPH 2010

So, here we have a WPH. The receives us on the nose first politely with a lot of fruit that animates to try downright. Now I knew it but it is also easy to recognize that this rum has once again seen a whiskey barrel from the inside. For this, the taste of grain that comes through here is just too clear. Slightly peaty find him then also. Unfortunately, this dominates the great fruit notes just too much and ends in a dry finish. Already good to drink but there was sunk for me too much in the finish.

According to other reviews this is a very polarising rum. I'm curious. Tasted a slightly peated whisky before this. N: standard tropical funk/banana of WP. Young wood. Pencil shavings. A bit hot and bity. Not that different. A tad more woody. Taste: yeah okay this is weird. Sweet and syropy. Definitely a peated cask. Strangely light. Not so bad as some might think. The WP dna is still there, the mouthfeel is a off though. Some pepper in the aftertaste. All in all a nice experiment and probably an Islay whisky cask. Would have used this for blending. Still not as bad as some rated it. Very drinkable.

Whiskey-Rum oder Rum-Whiskey😂 Ein rauchiger Zeitgenosse, der wohl eher der whiskeyfraktion gefallen wird. Das Worthy Park Profil kommt trotzdem ganz gut durch und allem in allen gar nicht schlecht kombiniert. Der Alkohol ist auch einigermaßen gut eingebunden.

Die Nase fruchtig und rauchig. Eigentlich noch recht lecker. Am Gaumen und im Abgang übernimmt das Whisky-Finish. Ich habe aber die letzten 11 Tage so seltsame/schlechte/interessante Rum-Kreationen getrunken, dass er gar nicht so negativ auffällt 😂 Die Nase zieht die Gesamtbewertung etwas hoch.

Laut Label ein WPH. Sieht man ja nicht soo häufig. Schaumermal. Relativ hell, sicherlich kontinental gereift. Nase: Hmm. Von Estern erst mal kaum eine Spur. Ein paar gelbe Früchte und ... Rauch, relativ deutlich, aber nix was die Islay-verwöhnte Nase abschreckt. Gaumen: Uff. Aschiger Rauch Marke "kalter Aschenbecher". Schmeckt wie abgestandener Islay Whisky. Ester? Vergorene Früchte? Klebstoff? Fehlanzeige. Wenn da was war, der Rauch bügelt es platt. Wenigstens ist der Alkohol gut eingebunden. Abgang: Lang. Leider. Nee Freunde, so nicht. Wenn Islay Finish, dann gehört das auch aufs Label. Ich liebe Islay Whisky... aber der hier ist toter Rauch. Brauch jetzt einen Laphroaig zum nachspülen.

The nose is elusive. I would have expected more esters and especially more Worthy Park banana in a WPE. Instead, there is grain and smoke. The palate confirms it. Here we have yet another rum that was in an Islay cask (Bowmore or even Laphroiag?) There is not much left of the rum. I have the feeling to taste a fruity Islay whiskey. In the aftertaste, the banana makes it again to the perceptual limit. What a washout! Also annoying that the cask type is once again not declared on the bottle!

Könntest du mir auch als Islay verkaufen, nicht meins.

Edit: da ich den Osterkalender gerade probiere, kam mir der in den Sinn wieder und ich musste ihn nochmal extrem runter setzten Sorry, ich will diesen gar nicht erst beschreiben oder analysieren. Das Teil hat mit Rum nichts zu tun. So stelle ich mir vor, wenn ich auf der Insel nach dem Aufstehen ein altes torfiges Whiskyfass auslecken muss. Und dass ist so gar nicht mein Ding. Bin echt am überlegen ob ich noch irgendwo einen überaus künstlich süßen Rum zum neutralisieren habe. Wer Whisky mag sollte ihn probieren, der Rest sollte lieber die Finger davon lassen. Edit: Habe es auch nochmal mit Cola und Eis probiert, aber bevor ich dass nochmal probiere, kauf ich mir lieber nochmal einen gesüßten Jim Beam um die Ecke beim Discounter, die bessere Wahl.
