Savanna S.B.S Réunion Grand Arôme

 This rum is really interesting, but I'm not sure how to rate it yet, never had such a flavor in the glass. It is a mixture of initially pure nail polish remover (ester galore), but without a fruity component, and then later wet wood, the Virgin Oak has done a great job. A crass stuff, it seems somehow "sick" to me, in the sense of absolutely wacky, extreme. Anyone who blindly tastes a Savanna out here can only be congratulated. Let's see what the others say, who get these days samples from me. 😉 Update 2023-08-04: At the 2nd tasting, unfortunately, completely failed. The co-tasting whisky drinker (advanced) just said "manure!" - and I have to agree with him now, unfortunately. 😳 Too bad, with this experimental rum I could not pull him from the whisky to the rum side. But I'm still waiting for the reviews of those who got a sample (at a fortunately bearable price) of this (failed?) experiment. I'm curious!

 For me, a mixture of Grand Arome and Herr. Lots of gummy bears, esters, strawberry, a little wood, perhaps a little snappy, a little plastic.

 I can't do anything with it. I have a taste on the palate as if they had added a few dead animals during fermentation . . In addition to rotten and musty, somehow something carrion-like! At the very end, a little strawberry wine gum comes through, but that can't really save the rum.

 Very interesting profile, a bit meaty on the nose behind the fruit, glue and everything else. I understand why the rum is so controversial, but I would take a bottle of it.

 Ich sitze da wie das Meme von John Travolta und suche nach den Savanna GA-Aromen... Ein doppelter Blick auf das Etikett hilft nicht🫣. Die Nase ist OK, aber was sich am Gaumen abspielt, ist einfach ekelhaft. Der Abgang dauert lange mit einem bitteren Geschmack von Sauerkirschen 🤣Ein paar Extrapunkte, weil ich Sauerkirschen mag 😁 BTW Mein GF fragt, was hier nach Kompost riecht 🤦🏻‍♂️

 Überreife Hefefrüchte im Geruch. Grand arome AF. Als ob man Bier verschüttet und es einen Tag lang nicht aufgewischt hätte. Im Geschmack: super chemisch. Gummi/Kleber. Plastik. Wow. Etwas anderes. Sehr funky, aber interessant. Fermentierte Früchte. Seltsam, aber irgendwie auch sympathisch. Das ist definitiv etwas für die Rum-Nerds unter uns.

 The nose starts off with a lot of glue, fermented red fruit, vanilla, tobacco, chemical notes, but then more and more repulsive notes such as butcher's meat or offal (rumen) appear. The first impression on the palate is also similar, in the direction of rotten meat. A little better at the end, with vanilla and tobacco, but the unpleasant notes unfortunately remain. I'm glad it was only a sample. How SBS was able to select this cask remains a mystery to me, or was this supposed to be a 'Savanna beast' 🤷‍♂️

 Just my second tasting and I still like this a lot.

 So I'm not sure whether I think it's good or bad. It's definitely something I've never had in a glass before. I feel the same way about Beast#3. But I don't think I'm very enthusiastic about it.

 Die Nase ist geprägt von den typischen Merkmalen des GA Savanna: Salzlake, Kapern, Ketchup, etwas faule und säuerliche Früchte, im Mund bestätigt sich das Aroma, aber es fehlt an Tiefe. Der Mund ist kurz, der Alkohol wärmt ein wenig. Er ist nicht schlecht, für 70 Euro sicherlich seinen Preis wert, aber er ist ein wenig jung.

 Nothing fits together here. The nosing still gives hope, but then the blow comes. The alcohol is poorly integrated, fizzy, the fruit is completely drowned out...I drink the rest with cola (almost a belediging for the cola)

 Very interesting rum with lots of layers.... Not an easy sipper.

 The first impression was unfortunately better than the retasting - I really liked this mix of woodiness and esters at first, now every time I take a sip I have the unpleasant taste of rubber gloves with lots of fruit and vanilla in my mouth, unfortunately not my cup of tea.
