Velier Diamond & Port Mourant <SV>PM
The "<SV>PM" was produced in Guyana at the Diamond & Port Mourant distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler Velier. It was distilled in 1995 from Molasses with a Pot and Column Still and then aged for 19 years. The rum has an ABV of 62,1%. This is a limited release and there are only 564 bottles. 16 community members rated this rum with an average of 8.7/10. The rum smells like Pineapple, Medicinal and Licorice, and on the palate there is Medicinal, Allspice and Mango.

25.02.2017 A nice afternoon in the basement with rum and some delicious food. Notes Medium dark colour. Nose Wood, light roasted, plum, light licorice, faint chocolate, light caramel. Palate Intense, oily, wood, light smoke, dried fruit, plum, light licorice, earthy. Finish Very long, wood, light smoke, raisin, plum, tobacco, licorice
Ein wilder, komplexer Geselle, nicht sehr ausgewogen. Braucht viel Zeit und ein paar Tropfen Wasser. Hat die hohen Erwartungen bei weitem nicht erfüllen können. Beim zweiten mal Kosten überzeugt er mehr. Tolles öliges Mundgefühl, hochkomplex. Das Wollenhaben-Gefühl stellt sich aber trotzdem nicht ein.
... Der Old Velier Demerara Rum ist das Beste, was man in der Rumwelt probieren kann. Die Rums wurden aus Versehen mehrere Jahre in den Tropen gelagert und niemand füllte das Fass wieder auf. Die Andelsteuer betrug 90% oder mehr, weshalb der Geschmack besonders voll und intensiv ist. Auch wenn es sich um ein extra teures Produkt handelt, empfehle ich, mindestens einmal im Leben einen Rum aus dieser Serie zu probieren.
Clear molasses on the nose and hints of smoke and medicin. In the mouth the smoke is more present, but in a good way (i am not into way to smoky stuff). It is medicinal, floral and mineral. After resting for a while it starts to come up with some fruity notes. The finish is quite long, but mostly smoke. The abv is well integrated, I would not have guessed 61,5%. But I miss some complexity and power
