This is the last tasting I had i Shanghai on September 10th 2011, shortly before I had to leave in a hurry with my 2 year old son under my arm and only a suitcase of belongings. The tasting was done at "The Long Bar" at the Waldorf Astoria. The bar had just been finished in an amazing restoration project done according to old photos. The bar is over 100 feet long and the entire room is a wonder to behold. This is a nice rum and it's pretty complex for such a low ABV. Fruits and wood mingle pretty well and I wrote that the empty glass had some chocolate and licorice.
... Enmore - drive distiller, now just a functional distillation device. Apparently the only wooden still in the world which is very popular. The Enmore rums have a flavour of ash, leather, heavy wood, which will delight especially the lovers of whiskey. And if in the traditional Guyanese way the producer adds a little molasses to the rum, you have a unique very distinctive and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favourites.
Promising nose Disappointing on the palate
