The "Sublime" was produced in Dominican Republic at the Matusalem distillery. It was distilled from Molasses and then aged for 10 years - 20 years. The rum has an ABV of 40%. Talking about overprised, this is probably the largest gap I have ever seen from a regular average price of the range to the top release. It does have a unique flavour profile probably due to the way it was finished. First 20 year solera, which would be close to their regular gran reserva and the 10 years in Sherry Jerez barrels. The overall profile is light and fruity with spices and roasted wood. There is light caramel and chocolate as well as an earthy not close to tobacco. The presentation of the bottle is nice but the price is way out of bounds compared to quality. I think this will primarily be a collectors item and not a sipper.
Really good rum, but for the price?... you pay for limited edition and handcrafted bottle
