#5372 04.06.2025 Running a few samples at home while watching a TV series about murders related to American Football. Nose Wood, light coffee, dried fruit, light caramel, orange, light prunes, light chocolate. Palate Oily, wood, light raisin, sweet, light spicy, orange, light prunes, light chocolate, light nutts. Finish Medium to long, medium spicy, wood, oily, dried fruit, light caramel, light nutty. Empty glass Chocolate, vanilla, prunes, light earthy.
This rum has never seen a port wine barrel, it is also never 19-20 years old and it is definitely not Colombian (Dictador buys young, cheap rum mainly from Panama and occasionally Costa Rica); typical coffee aromas (which are of course not natural, but were added), plus light caramel and chocolate notes and possibly a hint of vanillin (this was also probably added). The "rum" is really tasty, but unfortunately I have to deduct many points due to the explicit consumer deception. Complexity in the form of fruit notes is (once again) in vain. For many rum fans, the additives and dishonesty may not be a problem, for me as a whiskey fan who has already tried over 1000 whiskies, this is an absolute no-go.
