13th day in the Christmas calendar. Blind! Easy to assign with the tip on Memorial Day on 12/13: Saint Lucia. But was also clear in taste. Nose: fruity-spicy and spicy with iodine, solvent and pepper. But also lemony-fresh with a touch of tropical fruit, vlt. papaya. Then slight sweetness of honey and lemon marmalade. Out the back anise and mint and wood and some leather. Palate: bitter-hot-salty. Intense, sweet licorice. Nutmeg, clove and that mint again. Hints of grapefruit at the back. In the finish this remains and green tea and licorice join in.
Clearly a 2002 on the nose, as it is much closer to the CDI St. Lucia 2002 than the other two bottlings - Blackadder and Renegade 1999 from the crosstasting. Here, too, the glue is more present than in the '99s, but the honey is more dominant than in the CDI. A beautiful nose! The mouth is flooded with a powerful honey sweetness - absolutely no salt to be found, but a similarity to the French style. Herbs, sugar cane and grass can also be found here. The finish is medium long, herbal and somewhat bitter. 81 points
