Rare Cask Series HGML

Astonishing bottle! The age works well with the Hampden George MacFarquhar Lawson mark. The rum is on the drier side. I have not encountered much of fruit. However, the typical Hampden characteristic of the grilled pineapple is existant here. Im really suprised by how balanced that rum is. The ABV is imperceptible. A ton of glue, solvents, nail polish with a good measure of notes of burnt sugar, sour cherries, spices, and roasted oak. I also found some notes of blue cheese and rosemary. Robust, dry and worth the money. Well done Hampden!

My first HGML and i found it to be fantastic. Full bodied funk with a creaminess i‘ve never encountered before. Really enjoyable and probably my favorite pour from GRF12.

Tasted at the Pueblo del Ron Nuremberg 2024. First of all, a big thank you to the guys from Kirsch, who opened a new bottle especially for my dram. It was a revelation for me to be able to taste it so freshly opened. A real cracker.

Ein ausgezeichneter Hampden. Ein bisschen weniger komplex als der Habitation Velier, aber wir sind in der gleichen Kategorie (am oberen Ende des Warenkorbs).

Really good HGML. Great ester notes and very drinkable despite 63.6% vol. Nice 🇯🇲 funk. But simply too expensive for the price.

Toller, sehr runder HGML! Tropische Früchte und Salzkaramell. Einzig der Preis hindert mich daran, mir eine Flasche zuzulegen.

Tropisch gereifte Single Casks direkt von Hampden sind dann schon mal was besonderes. Und HGML gehört schon zu meinen Lieblings-Marks. Nase: intensiv und trotzdem rund. Volle und typische Hampden-Aromen. Angenehme aber dominante Ester mit einer deutlichen Essig-Note und Lösungsmittel. Eine schöne Ananas-Marzipan-Süße, dunkler Honig, süß-saure Zitrone und Limette geben die fruchtige-Süße Seite. Daneben ist er aber auch würzig und ganz leicht rauchig. 87 Gaumen: fängt adstringent an, dann kurz bitter und dann kommt die ganze Power der Ester. Süß-säuerliche Ananas mit Zitronenschale aber auch frische Zitrone kommen genauso wie Marzipan und Nagellack intensiv in den Gaumenraum. Er wirkt insgesamt cremig, fast ölig. Ester und Ananas sowie die Adstringenz ziehen sich weit in den Abgang. Toller, gereifter HGML. 89

Tasted at the Village 2024 in Nuremberg. I don't know many HGML bottlings yet, but this one seems slightly tamed. I find it very pleasant and delicious. Perhaps it's due to the tropical maturation. But it is still clearly an HGML. I find it very tasty and the price is the only thing stopping me from buying a bottle at auction.

This is a very nice bottling no doubt. Rich in flavours including the HGML fruit basked, roasted notes and plenty influence from the cask. Alongside the DOK this is clearly the best bottling of the rare cask series. Only if you try it side by side with other tropically aged HGMLs, you will find that some liveliness is missing. The HV 2010 bottling is actually a few steps ahead of this one presenting the make perfectly and with a bit more excitement than this (very good) bottling.

Seeeehr leckerer HGML. Unfassbar viel Tropenfrüchte, angenehme Ester, kandierte karamellisierte Ananas, Zitrus cordial, leicht Gebäck und Kandiszucker sowie eine dezente Säure im Abgang. Der macht echt Spaß! Da gibt's abgesehen vom Preis nix zu meckern.

Dieser Hampden HGML zeigt eine bemerkenswerte aromatische Intensität, deren Anfänge man in der Nase mit einer Explosion von Früchten und phenolischen Noten spürt. Er ist schwer, intensiv und kräftig, bleibt aber dennoch süffig. Dann entfaltet der Gaumen neue Fruchtnoten, wie rote Früchte und ihre säuerliche Seite, Chilinoten, eine leichte blumige Seite und Tannine. Das Ganze ist fettig, schwer und sehr aromatisch. Der Abgang konzentriert sich mehr auf die Früchte und die phenolischen Noten. Ein Rum in der reinen jamaikanischen Tradition mit großartigen Aromen, aber obwohl er der beste der Single Cask Serie ist, bleibt sein Preis fragwürdig.

Very good Hampden with a lot of funk and beautiful tropical fruits. But the woody notes are also very present, just right for me. The only thing that bothers me is the overly alcoholic spiciness. This does not lead to a 9 rating

Habe ein paar leere Sample Fläschchen mit zur Messe genommen und mir den einfüllen lassen. Ein schöner und reichhaltiger Rum der schwer und ölig daherkommt. Schön ihn probiert zu haben, noch schöner dafür keine ganze Flasche bezahlt zu haben 😂

I had greater expectations for a 12 year tropically matured HGML. Great Mark.
