The "Single Rum" was produced in Taiwan at the Renaissance distillery. It was distilled in 2018 from Molasses with a Pot Still and then aged for 4 years. The rum is bottled at cask strength and has an ABV of 63,2%. This is a limited release and there are only 483 bottles. 8 community members rated this rum with an average of 8.6/10. After the Renaissance from the White Alligator barrel was already a real positive surprise, today again followed up with two interesting bottlings, one stored in the Bas-Armagnac barrel, the other in the noble red (Botrytis grapes sweet wine) barrel, again with super long fermentation, so that it comes on the nose again to a real aroma fireworks. Interestingly, however, both are quite different from the aroma profile. In the Armagnac Cask I have more grapes, the noble red goes more in the direction of yogurt and it also somehow still has something between storage room and cheese plate, which I like but quite 😅 On the palate both with tobacco, vanilla. Here, too, the noble red scores a little more. Conclusion: again two extreme bottlings that are really fun. Makes you want to try more!
You can still detect the base, which tastes a bit like gummy bears to me. This is joined by wood and Armagnac. A very successful combination!
Nase: Vergorene Rotfrüchte, Erdbeerjoghurt mit etwas Banane, altes Holz, grasige Noten, Eiche, etwas Tabak. Gaumen: Erdbeerjoghurt, angenehm cremig, in kleinen Schlücken mit schönen Röst- und Kakaonoten mit Banane, Alkohol ist sehr gut eingebunden. Abgang auch hier wieder sehr kurz, Cremigkeit bleibt etwas länger als die Aromen. Wie bei den anderen: Potential sehr hoch, bin auf zukünftige und gereiftere Abfüllungen sehr gespannt. Die Erdbeerjoghurt-Grundaromatik gefällt mir wirklich sehr, kommt viel natürlicher rüber als beim chemisch-künstlichen Savanna HERR/ Grand Arome. Lecker!
