TBRC Caroni Caroni Distillery Heavy Trinidad Rum

Nach dem Einfüllen kam erst nichts außer etwas Holz und gebranntem Zucker aus dem Glas. Nachdem er ein paar Minuten Luft bekommen hat geht’s aber richtig los: Pfirsich und Banane begleitet von etwas Gummi. Das Holz bleibt, wird aber etwas weicher, fast wie Bourbon. Der Geruch ist süß und fruchtig, wie ein Bonbon oder Sirup. Gummi, Bitterkeit und Holz dominieren den Geschmack, begleitet von zu fein gemahlenem Espresso und Apfel. Insgesamt aber anders als in der Nase hier kaum Frucht. Nach kurzer Zeit kommt frisch geteerte Straße dazu, bevor der Espresso im Abgang in würzigen Mokka kippt. Nachdem der Geschmack größtenteils verflogen ist bleibt noch etwas mineralisches auf der Zunge, als hätte man einem Stein geleckt. Sehr lecker, nur über das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis lässt sich streiten.

Solider 98er. Recht trocken, wenig Dreck. Ordentlich.

Die Nase hat einen (vergleichsweise) süßen und vanilligen Charakter, am Gaumen ist er ein wenig unausgegoren. Wieder einige süße Noten, gepaart mit Rosinen und Trockenfrüchten. Für meinen Geschmack ein wenig zu leicht an zur Dirty-Noten. Trotzdem nicht schlecht.

8,3:On the nose, the first impression we get is very comsi/comsa, as industrial notes like rubber, tar, petrol are strong, overpowering.The fruit notes are faint with blackberry.The wood is roasted with nuts, burnt sugar and spicy with vanilla.The molasses is dark with licorice. On aeration, the picture clears a lot, as the fruits are dried, the wood smoky, honeyed, there are cocoa and meaty notes, the molasses is minty, mineral. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is fruity, woody, industrial with dried fruits like apricots, raisins, figs, spicy and roasted wood with creamy maple, dark chocolate, caramel and vanilla.The industrial notes are dirty, bitter with rubber, tar, menthol.The molasses is minty, floral, dark with black tea. Resting helps a lot to peaches, berries and apples to express themselves and espresso also. 8,5:The finish is long, dirty with tar, spicy, dry and roasted with smoky wood, notesIike nuts, caramel, espresso, a bit tannic.The fruits are dried with apricots, prunes and raisins. The molasses is vegetal with flowery, tobacco notes. Needs nice rest to become tasty.

Relatively hard at the first sip. Good flavor and very nice Caroni profile. Alcohol is a little too present in the mouth and finish for me though.

Ein guter durchschnittlicher Caroni mit den erforderlichen Aromen, aber nicht ganz ausgewogen! Der Alkohol ist relativ präsent und für meinen Geschmack zu wenig Teer und Frucht, dafür aber etwas zu viel Holz!

Unfortunately, with this Caroni you get the impression that the cask had some major flaws, it just tastes not round. I certainly have no clue how one could measure this, but it is curoius enough to not happen that often in caroni Single cask

03.01.2023 Going through some samples at home while watching Aquaman on the telly. Dark in colour. Nose Wood, light roasted, light tannins, light rubber, light tar, faint chocolate, cherry, light earthy. Palate Warm, balanced, wood, oily, light smoke, light caramel, light tar, light rubber, faint chocolate, fruits, light tobacco, light tannins. Finish Long and warm, wood, tannins, faint smoke, dried fruit, light caramel. Pretty decent Caroni with the traditional notes.

On the nose rubber, oak, caramel and fruit candy. On the palate, bicycle tube, tar, tannins, espresso. The alcohol is a bit too present on both the nose and palate. Not a bad Caroni, but a year ago there was also the Velier 21 to have for the price called 🥲.

Tar in nose, but rather on a hot summer day on Route 66 than freshly tarred. The rubber of the motorcycle tires is also just evaporating and it's been some time since anyone braked here. For 62.3% here simply lacks the power.

Eine Nase von Holzleim, altes, nicht sehr klares Holz. Eine Nase nach Spülmittelpfote, die ein nicht sehr sauberes Fass enthüllt. Die mechanische Werkstatt ist zurückhaltend. Der Mund ist holprig mit einer chaotischen Entwicklung. Der Abgang wird schließlich interessant, als das Chaos aufhört. Aber dann taucht das unklare Fass wieder auf. Ein Rum, der keine Lust macht, ihn zu trinken. Chaotisch und von einem nicht sauberen Fass geprägt.
