This rum from the Northern Ireland bottler Copeland is a marriage of pot-still rum from Barbados and rum distilled in the Copeland distillery matured in American bourbon first-fill barrels and Pinot Noir barrels before blending at a ratio of 50:50. It’s a rather smooth Overproof rum, bottled at 57.2% in just 600 numbered bottles. The nose is fruity with an aroma of orange. At the palate and during the medium long finish it’s smooth and fruity with flavors of orange, vanilla and honey.
Interesting stuff from irish "destiller". Pretty long fermentation, but i didn't like the integration of the alcohol that much. Some sweetness from Barrel and some orange tones.
Quite a closed spirit - doesn’t really matter if you add water or not it doesn’t seem to open up at all…. I can’t even detect anything beyond alcohol vapours and orange… Just citrusy orange, some wood and not much else…. Quite a strong but basic rum - my assumption is it’s for mixing or bold cocktails and not for sipping
