The "Demerara" was produced in Guyana at the Diamond distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler Albert Michler Distillery. It was distilled in 2010 from Molasses with a Pot and Column Still and then aged for 10 years. The rum has an ABV of 45%. 02-09.04.2022 This was crazy week, where some friends and I rented a nice summerhouse on Rømø. The plan was to go nuts for a whole week with different rums without going overboard. The final agreement came to 6 rums a day and then enjoy nice walks or ferry rides during the day. Day 2 Notes Light in colour. Nose Light wood, faint smoke, citrus, light honey, orange, cinnamon, plum. Palate Oily, round, light orange, plum, faint mint, pineapple, light coconut, faint chocolate, light roasted wood. Finish Medium long, light wood, light coconut, light cherry, dried fruit. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while to release all its flavours and the ABV to settle.
A little more tropical maturation would have done it good. Not bad but not my profile...
👃 is very alcoholic after pouring to the glass but once it sits in glass for at least 15 minutes it changes completely and wow I am surprised. At first it was harsh, sort of almost reminding agricole rums or even home-distilled fruit alcohol but after sitting in glass it opens up and softens immensely and you can sense the sweetness and fruitiness. It is very woody but you can also sense banana and vanilla too. 👅 is semi sweet with notes of vanilla, lots of wood and a great deal of peppery notes. Finish is long and kind of earthy.
Ich habe mich wirklich darauf gefreut, dieses Produkt zu probieren. Im Aroma bemerkte ich eine Kombination aus Holz, Zitrusfrüchten, Rosinen, Nüssen und alkoholischen Düften. Aber alles in allem ist das Aroma selbst sehr elegant und sehr subtil. Im Geschmack bemerke ich Orangenschale (ich liebe sie), Schokolade und Holz. Es gibt einen Hauch von Zitrusfrüchten, Karamell und warmen Noten. Der Abgang ist kurz, aber ich muss sagen, dass er völlig ausreichend ist. Ich bemerkte vor allem gantle süßen Geschmack von Karamell und vielleicht, dass Orangenschalen. Tolle Probe, toller Rum. Wenn dieser Rum nur ein wenig mehr ABV hätte, wäre er ein Muss für jeden. Man muss ihn einfach probieren.
