Gunpowder Proof (Black Label)

A strong dark smell, dark chocolate, fruity, coffee, a little alcoholic, very pleasant.Also in the taste is dark chocolate, spicy, slightly woody.A very pleasant rum.

24 rum 2022 in the aroma the strength of the alcohol and a little chocolate, nuts, vanilla, later wood and prunes and the alcohol is no longer noticeable at all the flavour caresses at first (honeyed), but then the tongue grates the grater and bites back and forth, the 54.5% is there on a rampage once the brut is gone, the flavour lingers for a long time it's definitely not something to sip all evening :-) aroma 3,5/5 Taste 4/5

EDIT: Ich habe mich während dieser neuen Verkostung endlich auf das Spiel eingelassen! Ehrlich gesagt verwirrend im reinen englischen Stil und ziemlich nett. Man muss den Charakter mögen. In der Nase: Melasse, brauner Zucker, Karamell, Muskat, Kaffee? Im Mund: Kaffee, grobe Gewürze. Der Abgang eher in Richtung: leicht scharf, ziemlich kurz.

Great Demerara flavors that are very complex. Yes it is young and you can tell, but I don't mind it for its intended use. Very good PLV.

Wirklich angenehm und sehr preiswert, obwohl ich bei diesem Preisniveau für einen Marine-Rum den Black Tot leicht bevorzuge.

Den Gunpowder Proof gibt es in drei verschiedenen Blends. Der älteste besteht aus Rum aus Guyana, Trinidad und Barbados. Danach gab es einen Blend aus Guyana und Trinidad Rum. Der letzte Blend besteht nur aus verschiedenen Rums aus Guyana, und der, den ich hier rezensiere, ist der letzte, der meiner Meinung nach ziemlich komplex ist und eine gute Balance zwischen Süße und Trockenheit aufweist.

This rum has a very comfortable and approachable flavour, even more so, i find, than Pusser's blue label. I find myself returning to gunpowder proof fairly often almost as a palette cleanser in between different styles of rum. I find this rum to be very versatile and for quite a while it has been my go-to for experimenting with more rum-forward cocktails. Gunpowder proof is one of the more "homey" rums that I feel would make for a good rum to step off with for someone close to the beginning of their rum journey. I also find that gunpowder proof has qualities that would make it a fitting choice for a whiskey drinker.

Der Wein hat eine schöne holzige und würzige Nase mit einer Note von Schokolade und Vanille. Im Mund findet man die Nase wieder, die 54,5 Grad sind gut integriert, die Länge ist kurz. Der Preis ist gut.

I'm testing the most recent version here, so it's made with only rums from Guyana. I'm testing it just after finishing the three single-still samples from DDL. On the nose, there's dust, damp wood, chocolate, and dried fruit. On the palate, it's sweet and spicy, not very complex but pleasant. Smooth and spicy finish. For almost a third of the price of El Dorado's 40% single-stills, this one has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. The difference in strength makes a big difference. I don't know if it's a must-have, but for the price, it's a very good buy. Paired with the Plantation OD, it works well in cocktails.

Interessant ai einen Rum nach ein paar Jahren nochmals pur zu verkosten. Sehr würzige Nase wo mir heute vor allem die Noten von Kaffee sehr gefallen. Am Gaumen dann weniger intensiv und mir inzwischen etwas zu süß.

Wir befinden uns sehr wohl in der Welt der Demerara und Navy! Er ist fettig mit Noten von bitterem Kakao, Gewürzen und Nüssen mit verbranntem Holz. Es ist definitiv ein schwerer und kräftiger Melasse-Rum nur in der Nase, die Navy-Seite ist gut ausgeprägt mit einer Lösungsmittel- und Metallseite. Lebkuchen versüßt und mäßigt den Blend. Mund: Er hat Charakter mit seinen 54,5% ziemlich vollmundig, stark und trocken. Kraft und Vollmundigkeit. Wir haben natürlich Mandeln, Kakao, Nüsse, aber auch Pflaumen und Bananen ... Die Seite der gerösteten Nüsse ist recht angenehm mit leckeren Gewürzen.
