Zu Clarendon
Interesting Jamaica with enough rough edges, but good drinkable. On the Jamaica Madness scale located exactly between Hampden and Appleton.
19.11.2021 Celebrating my birthday at a bygone local bar with dinner as part of the experience. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Intense, pineapple, light wood, esters, polish, spice, fruity, light floral. Palate Intense, light wood, spice, ester, medium dry, fryity, pineapple, light floral, faint chocolate. Finish Medium to long, warm, light oily, light wood, fruits, medium dry, esters. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while to really open up.
Very well done Jamaican rum. Certainly top notch for a Monymusk. Lots of flavours and good balance between the fruit/funk/spices/flowery notes. Not too much madeira- at least not in woodiness. Clearly one to revisit.
Beautiful smell and fruity-funky taste makes this rum memorable. It balances on the line and fallung not into the ester-side. Alcohol is quite well integrated.
