Valinch & Mallet Ten Cane Spirit of Art no. 2 2008

Bourbon fans are in the right place here, the profile is very similar to a fruity, round and delicious bourbon. It has probably been re-casked, which is indicated not only by the strong bourbon influence but also by the noticeable but not unpleasant wood and its influence. The alcohol is perfectly integrated, correctly dosed and after around 60 minutes of aeration, the profile unfolds in a very appealing way. This rum is not overly complex, but very well nuanced and rather elegant and subtle. Those looking for strong ester bombs will find little to like about this profile, but anyone who appreciates noticeable bourbon notes a la Foursquares or expressive rums with a "Spanish" impression will certainly like this rum. For me, it's an excellent rum and clearly undervalued by many, certainly also due to the current fashion of not appreciating the Spanish style too much and finding it boring. 89 points for me, as a bourbon lover a wonderful experience.

Ein sehr schöner Ten Cane, besser als der von CDI würde ich sagen.Fruchtig von der Nase bis zum Abgang mit Gewürzen und einem delfinierenden gerösteten Fass, ohne dass es zu viel ist. Ein Hauch von Gummi und Lösungsmittel sind auch da.

Der Wein ist sehr gut. Eine schöne Komplexität. Der Alkohol ist perfekt integriert. Ich habe nicht genug ten canne probiert, um vergleichen zu können, aber es hat mir sehr gut gefallen 😍☺️.

Es ist ein Meditationsrum, den man immer wieder probieren sollte. Ich persönlich fand ihn sehr ausgewogen, gut konstruiert und mit einem aromatischen Profil, das für den Rohstoff spricht. Die Reifung im kontinentalen Teil hat ihm sicherlich einen zusätzlichen Vorteil verschafft.

I didn’t take any notes at the Rhum Fest so a more detailed review will follow as soon as I get the chance to sample this rum again in a better context.

In der Nase eher holzig und süß.Gummi. Fruchtig. Ich habe ihm wahrscheinlich nicht genug Zeit gegeben, aber er schien mir nicht komplex genug zu sein.

Interessante Seite von roten Früchten. Allerdings finde ich den Alkohol nicht super integriert... Und es fehlt an Komplexität... Ich habe noch nicht viele Trinidad-Rums probiert, aber mein Favorit ist er nicht.

I don't know that much Ten Cane so far, but he's not really exciting.

Ein Rum, der einen unvollständigen Eindruck hinterlässt. Die Nase ist etwas schüchtern und trotz einiger angenehmer Menthol- und Gumminoten sind die Früchte und Gewürze eher zurückhaltend. Der Nase fehlt es an Tiefe und Kraft, was sich auch am Gaumen bemerkbar macht. Abgesehen von einigen zusätzlichen phenolischen Noten (vor allem Alkohol und Lösungsmittel) hat der Mund Mühe, sich zu entfalten und zu überzeugen. Die wenigen Gewürze und empyreumatischen Anklänge können das Niveau nicht heben.Der lange Abgang ist kurzlebig, skizzenhaft und einfach. Einige Pflaumennoten, Tannine und Gewürznoten heben den Abgang an, ohne den Gaumen zu überragen. Ein Rum, der viel Luft braucht, aber insgesamt enttäuschend ist.
